This past weekend’s H.U.R.T.100 Mile Trail Race proved to be very, very successful for Canadian runners. Unless I’m reading the race results incorrectly there were 13 Canadians who started the race. Of those, 7 were 100 Mile finishers and 6 were 100K finishers. According to the official race rules “due to the difficult nature of the course entrants who pass through the 100K distance but do not finish the 100-mile course within 36 hours are credited in the official results as having run 100K”.

Here are the Canadian results:

100 Mile Finishers:

  • Gary Robbins North Vancouver BC 20:12 1st Overall; new CR
  • Tracy Garneau Veron BC 24:06 3rd Overall; 1st Female; new CR
  • Jamie Nott Calgary AB 31:40 17th Overall
  • Monica Scholz Jerseyville ON 32:02 18th Overall; 2nd Female
  • Matthew Session Burnaby BC 32:10 19th Overall
  • Charlotte Vasarhelyi Breslau ON 32:28 22nd Overall; 3rd Female
  • Tasha Nott Calgary, ON 35:50 46th Overall; 5th Female

100K Finishers:

  • Alan Haner Mindemoya ON
  • John Turner Burlington ON
  • Tammy Sieminowski Toronto ON
  • Phillip McColl Jerseyville ON
  • Sharon Zelinki Toronto ON
  • Jennifer-Anne Meneray London ON

The latter was compiled from a spreadsheet of results found here and are not considered official yet.

A huge congratulations to Gary and Tracy who both set new Course Records!

Of particular significance to our previous Monumental Effort story describing Monica Scholz’ 3000 Mile Odyssey, Monica is the first member of the 1000 Mile Club, completing the race for a 10th consecutive year.   Wow!  And only 29 100-Milers to go.
